Disclaimer: wish I could own them but sadly I don't
Notes: I...don't even know how to introduce this. While watching, for the 3937492 times, an episode of Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi (one of Yukina x Kisa), I got inspiration and wrote this, I don't even know how but I did. I hope that you'll like it (even though I find it weird myself lol)!
“All the ladies who are single or not married yet, please gather! We’re going to do the throwing of the bouquet!” he heard the bride exclaim.
Within some seconds behind the bride was created a crowd formed by women of all ages. Most of them were in their 30s though there was even who was in her 50s.
“It seems that Aunt Kumiko doesn’t give up easily on love” Aiba stated smiling.
No matter how many years have passed or how many men made her suffer, Kazama Kumiko was still searching her destined person and she wouldn’t stop until she would meet him.
He wished he could have the same determination as her. Even though he turned 34 just three months ago, he felt as if he lived for more than Aunt Kumiko and he was getting really tired of this ‘research’ of his other half. Every relationship he had would last just a couple of months or would end up in a bad way after years of on-again-off-again. More to his fault to be honest. He was so picky when searching for a partner since when his mother said to him to “settle only for perfection” in love and that made things for him really complicated.
He was thrown out from his thoughts by a loud cheer made by the girl who caught the bouquet. He watched as Aunt Kumiko returned to her seat defeated while the young girl went to her boyfriend for hugging him and showing him the flowers she won.
“Aah~ It is really beautiful to have a person who looks at you as if you’re the most important person in their world” he sighed finishing the drink in his glass.
“Aiba-chan! We’re going to do the throwing of the garter so go line up with the others!”
“The throwing of what?” he asked confused.
“Of the garter! It is the same as the throwing of the bouquet, the difference is that this is for males only” Kazama explained.
“You and your bride really are weird. We’re in Japan, why we have to do this kind of western things?” he complained but eventually stood up.
“Hey be grateful! I’m doing this for you in the hoping that you will be really able to find your destined person! Luck is always needed after all” he gave him a pat on the back before dragging him at the center of the room.
Aiba looked at the crowd of men around him and felt uncomfortable. He wasn’t like them, really thinking that if he caught the garter all his love problems would vanish. He wasn’t like them because he gave up on love.
“What am I even doing?” he whispered to himself and tried to go out from the crowd.
Just when he managed to do so and was returning to his table, someone bumped so roughly on him that he was thrown on the floor.
“Aiba-chan!” his best friend shouted.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry! I’m really truly sorry!” another voice followed.
He turned and sat up while touching his aching nose that was the first part of his body to touch the floor. When he opened his eyes, he met the gaze of a man that was around his age. His expression was worried but in the blink of an eye his eyes and mouth widened.
“What? I have blood in my face?!” Masaki asked alarmed.
The man only shook his head and kept on staring at him. Aiba’s gaze then fell on the man’s hands and saw the garter.
“Don’t tell me that I fell badly only because this weirdo jumped in the attempt of catch it and bumped into me?!” he thought annoyed.
Since the unknown man wasn’t saying anything, just stared at him, and people started to gather around them, Aiba got up and excused himself saying that he “needed some fresh air” and exited the room. He went to sit on a near bench and threw his head back closing his eyes.
He was already dizzy for the drinks he had and to worsen his state he was smashed to the floor.
“I want to go home already…” he whined in his mind.
Suddenly he heard some footsteps toward his direction and then someone sitting on the bench near him. He didn’t need to guess since that person could only be his worried friend who wanted to check on him.
“Kazapon it’s your wedding, you shouldn’t leave the guests like this” he said softly.
Receiving just a long silence in reply, he spoke again.
“And also, you shouldn’t leave your wife as well”
Again, his friend didn’t reply so he opened his eyes and turned to him.
“Kazapon I’m alright, so please-“ he stopped as soon as he saw the man in front of him.
“Leave? I’m sorry but I won’t do so” he replied calmly.
He was shocked. He was really sure that Kazama was the one who went to search for him, how come he mistook him for the weirdo from before?
Aiba looked away and directed his gaze toward the trees in front of them. He didn’t know why but he felt strange near that person, who was now looking at him smiling.
“I’m Sakurai Sho, nice to meet you” he said.
“Aiba Masaki” he muttered back.
After that, seconds and minutes passed with no one saying a single word. Sakurai too much busy looking at Aiba and the latter too busy trying to ignore the man beside him. Just after what it seemed eternity, Sakurai Sho spoke.
“I love you”
“WHAT?!” Masaki couldn’t help but shout at the hearing of that.
“I love you” Sho repeated smiling even more.
“I thought that you were a weirdo but I couldn’t have imagined that you were actually insane!” he blurted out before he could realize it.
“Do you believe in love at first sight?”
“N-not much…” he found himself answering the sudden question.
“Then you have to because this is what happened to me when I first saw you” he explained.
“Look, you don’t know anything about me, apart my name, so what are you saying is just the results of the drinks you swallowed” he tried to make him reason but he didn’t know how stubborn the other was.
“First of all, I’m abstemious. Second, I don’t need any other information for loving you because I feel as if I’ve known you since forever” he declared while moving near him.
“You…are crazy. Yeah, definitely” the other said while moving sideways for maintaining the distance between them.
“You can say that. I’m crazy of love”
“Okay seriously stop all this cheesy stuff. It’s disgusting! And most of all, I don’t even know who you are! Or what you do, where you live, who are your friends, and all the other stuff you need for knowing a person. So just stop with this ‘love at first sight’ thing! That doesn’t exist! And the fact that you really think that catching a garter can help you on finding love is…pathetic”
He vented all the frustration he gathered on his body the whole day. He had to see his best friend and his wife vowing love to each other for the rest of their lives. He had to see loving couples exchanging sweet words during the party as well as the ones who danced to the slow and romantic music. He was fed up about that. He was fed up because it seemed that everyone in this world was finding their soulmate expect him. And now this Sakurai guy was saying to love him because of ‘love at first sight’! And of course he was supposed to jump on his arms and saying that he loves him too, right?!...As if that could ever happen!
Aiba found himself glaring at the other while gripping firmly at his suit jacket. The man though grasped gently his wrist and put them down on Masaki’s knees before adjusting his suit which now had some wrinkles.
“You say to not know me…Could it be that if I tell you about myself you could actually give me a chance?” he asked, his tone always calm and without a trace of anger.
“M-maybe? I-I don’t know, why are you-“ but before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by the man who put his hands on his shoulders.
“Sakurai Sho, 35 years old. Birthday’s date: 25th of January. Blood type: A. Height: probably 171 cm. Weight: I don’t care about it. Main traits: straightforward, romantic, stubborn. Family: father, mother, younger brother, younger sister. University and degree: Keio, economy. Work: head of the marketing section of a company that is related to-“
“W-wait I didn’t mean that you have to do this” he said going again backwards since the other was leaning on him way too much.
“I live in Shinjuku, in an apartment at the 8th floor. I don’t have any pets but I would agree on having it if my partner wishes for it. I have many friends but the only one I can trust no matter what is my best friend, his name is Ohno Satoshi, my secretary on working weeks but painter in the weekends. My-“
“Please stop coming near and please stop all this nonsense!” he exclaimed distancing even further from Sakurai but the other just kept on coming near.
“My hobbies: traveling, skiing, reading books, working out. The food I hate the most: coriander. The food I love the most: shellfish. The music I love the most: hip hop. The part of my body that I love the most: my lips and my back. And last-“
“Sakurai-san stop-“ he stopped suddenly because, due to his constantly moving backwards, he fell from the bench.
Sho moved closer to the end of the bench and leaned in looking into Masaki’s eyes.
“…the person I love the most: Aiba Masaki” he concluded.
Before Masaki could process something, he felt Sho’s lips on his. His eyes were wide open for the shock and he couldn’t move a muscle. Only when Sho parted from his lips his mind started to work again.
“I’m going” he whispered standing up.
“Where to?” Sho asked standing up as well.
“Far away from you! Isn’t that obvious?!” he shouted and started to walk away toward the near garden.
“I’ll go with you!” Sakurai immediately said and caught up with him.
Aiba’s heart was beating fast and his cheeks were deep red. That hadn’t happened since ages ago and this made him nervous.
“It’s impossible that I actually fell for this idiot just because of some cheesy word and a simple kiss” he tried to convince himself.
“Aiba-san don’t look at the ground, look at me!”
“Stupid! I would bump into something or trip over if I would do that!” he retorted back.
“It won’t happen because there will be me to save you”
Aiba stopped and looked at the man. He made him so…ANNOYED.
“Just shut up!” he said and continued to walk.
“Aiba-san-“
“Shut up!”
“I really love-“
“SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!”
“I WON’T”
They continued arguing for all the afternoon. Aiba couldn’t stand the other’s behavior and Sho couldn’t stand Aiba’s one. But there was a difference between them: Aiba just wanted to go home and to forget him, Sho, instead, wished to stay with him as long as he could even if that would mean getting yelled at continuously.
When the party was near its end, Sho still didn’t want to leave Masaki alone and the latter found himself getting used to the other’s uninterrupted stare. Could it be that his heart really decided to give him a chance?
“THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE! I hate him! He is so unreasonable! And he is insane! There’s no way that I will fall in love with him! THIS IS NOT LOVE!”
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
1 year and a half later…
“Everyone, please gather! Within minutes there will be the throwing of the bouquet and of the garter!” the groom shouted so that everyone could hear.
Sho immediately sat up at the hearing of that and was ready to go when a hand gripped his wrist and made him sit again.
“You know that you don’t need to do that anymore, right?” the man asked slightly smirking.
“Oh…you’re right. Sorry, it began a habit with the passing of years” he explained before adding “But this is even for those who want to marry soon so…I could go in behalf of us”
“Why do you always say crazy stuff? As if we could get married in Tokyo…Before thinking anything you should wait that they legalize it” he said but regretted what he said right away.
“So, if marriage between same sex is legalized, you would marry me Masaki?” Sho asked smiling naughtily.
“No no no, stop your weird ideas. I hate you, there’s no way I want to marry you” he answered fast.
“Oh, so you hate me. That’s why we’re living together and we even introduced each other to our families…”
Just when Aiba was about to reply to that, something literally landed on Sho’s head. When Sho took it in his hand, he smirked.
“Sho-san the garter really loves you!” one of their friend joked.
Sakurai looked at his boyfriend and before he could even speak, the other had already stood up.
“Don’t even think about that” he glared at him.
“Let’s get married Masaki” he declared standing up.
“No way” he replied and walked towards the room’s exit.
“Maybe you want me to do a love declaration like last time?” he asked, already behind him.
“That wasn’t a love declaration! You just acted like an insane person! I didn’t fell for you because of that!”
“You did”
“I did not”
“Yes, you did” the older insisted.
“No, I did not”
“Let’s get married”
“SHUT UP!” he yelled.
They continued their bickering for a while, like happened the first time they met each other.
“I can’t be in love with such a person! This CAN’T be love! THIS IS NOT LOVE!”
Aiba knew that making those thoughts was useless. No matter what he said to himself, he knew that, that night he will be in the arms of the man that owned his heart since when he started to reveal everything about himself on a bench.
