Soba Stall AU PG development
This is the PG development of the Soba Stall AU.
As soon as he was out and the other couldn’t see him, Sho sped up his pace eager to reach the convenience store as soon as possible so that he could quickly return to Aiba.
He couldn’t believe that the other actually accepted to spend some time with him. Usually after closing the stall, Aiba would always give Sho a goodnight and enter his house which was right behind it. And Sho, like a fool, would walk away at a really slow pace hoping that before he could go away, Aiba would come to him and invite him inside.
Many times he had to go back home with his heart broken, but tonight he felt that it was the night. If Aiba said to him to return to the stall after buying the ice cream, it could have meant only one thing: he wanted to invite him over. And Sho couldn’t be more excited than he was for this.
When he finally arrived at the convenience store, he went where all the plastic stuff was and took a package of spoons. After, he walked towards the frozen-foods section and when he reached the big freezer where all the ice cream was, he started to search for theirs.
He found his almost right away since chocolate was a pretty common one. Aiba’s one though, as expected, was nowhere to be seen.
One time Aiba searched for a whole day and had to give up since he didn’t find it anywhere. Since then he calls it the ‘infamous’ mint chocolate chip, and he actually started to think that there is some kind of conspiracy against him.
How does he know all this? He may or may not have asked Ohno trivial information about Aiba, just because every detail about him was interesting for him.
Exiting the convenience store, he went to another one near there praying to find that flavor.
Five convenience stores and three supermarkets later, he finally found that infamous ice cream.
When he returned he found Masaki, changed to his casual clothes, leaning over his house’s wall. The stall closed and put aside.
When he heard footsteps he raised his head, which was bent down since he was using his phone and let out a sigh.
“What took you so long? You made me worried,” he said walking up to him.
“Sorry, I’m a little slow when walking,” Sho lied.
“I waited you for more than half an hour!” Aiba whined.
“But look what I have here~” he exclaimed raising the plastic bag with Aiba’s favorite flavor.
For a moment, Aiba’s eyes started to shine but immediately he took the bag in his hands and turned.
“Then, you’re allowed in. But the merit is of the ice cream, remember it,” he said, pouting a little.
The taller man approached his house’s door and opened it, inviting Sho to enter. Aiba actually lived in an old and small apartment complex so when he entered he found himself in a landing with stairs in front of him and on the side two doors. The one on the left was the door of Aiba’s apartment. For some kind of reason though, Aiba started to climb up the stairs.
“Wait, aren’t we going to your house?” Sho asked puzzled.
“I want to show you something first,” he replied in a low voice.
When Sho reached him, Masaki told him in a whisper to not make any loud sound since probably everyone was already sleeping.
“Oh right, here is full of elders. I had forgotten it,” Sho joked.
Aiba held back the laughter but gave Sho a playful punch on his sloping shoulder.
When they started to go higher and higher, Sho figured out that Aiba was bringing them to the roof. In fact, Aiba came to a stop right in front of the roof’s door. He looked at Sho and smiled.
“Welcome to my paradise,” he whispered before opening the door.
As soon as the door was opened and Aiba stepped on the roof, Sho’s eyes met with a lonely deckchair which next to it had a little table with some stuff on it. Both the chair and the table were put on what could seem be a large beach towel.
“Did you steal these from a bathing beach or what?” Sho joked, approaching the other who had put his ice cream on the table and was ready to open it.
“I didn’t steal them. They are actually mine,” he replied before adding, “We used to have a house near the beach but then my parents sold it, so I decided to bring these here. After all, I was always the only one to use them since I was young.”
After finishing talking he turned to Sho and pointed at a spot behind the chair. The latter started to analyze it before finding “Masaki” written on it in hiragana. Since the ink was still vivid after all this time, Sho could guess that it was written with a marking pen.
“You really mark your territory. Why don’t you write your name even on me?” Sho proposed smirking.
Aiba shook his head chuckling, still not comprehending how the other could be this cheeky.
“Pass me your bag so I can take the spoons,” he said stretching a hand toward the other.
“I’ll take them, don’t worry. Just go and sit on the chair,”
Aiba smiled at him for some seconds before doing as he said. He removed his shoes and sat on the right side of the deckchair, leaving enough room for the other.
Sho put the plastic bag on the table and took out both his ice cream and the spoons. After opening them and putting a spoon in his cup and doing the same with Aiba’s, he turned and bent over the near deckchair passing the mint chocolate chip to the other. He then proceeded to remove his shoes and sat too on the chair, leaning back on the backrest wanting to relax and to enjoy every second Aiba gave him.
They started to eat in silence, savoring their desserts, before Aiba noticed something wrong with Sho’s one.
“Yours is almost melting,” he stated.
Sho didn’t reply to that, he just continued on eating. He didn’t want to tell how much he had to search for Aiba’s ice cream, he didn’t want the other to feel guilty or anything like that. Unfortunately for him, Aiba was smart enough to get to that conclusion.
“You could have called me and I would have told you to buy another one-“
“I don’t have your number. You never gave it to me.”
Aiba turned to him speechless, realizing just at that moment that he’s been cold to Sho just as much as his ice cream was.
“I’m sorry, I-“
“It’s okay. Really, it’s fine. I got used,” Sho replied, straining a smile.
They both fell silent after that. Aiba wanted to say something but didn’t know what to, he felt as if whatever he was going to tell would seem an attempt to comfort the other. So, he decided to tell the random thing that he could think of.
“I usually come here and read something or listen to music. The atmosphere is relaxing,” he told him.
To his surprise, Sho seemed happy to know that useless information and ended up asking, “What kind of music do you listen to?”
“Recently I got addicted to movie soundtracks,” Aiba replied, relieved that the tension between them was lifted.
“I don’t usually listen to that because I wouldn’t know what emotion I should assign to those songs.”
“Isn’t this the beautiful thing? That everyone can choose which emotion to feel.”
“Aiba Masaki, I didn’t know you were this deep,” Sho declared, teasing him.
They both chuckled and returned to look ahead of them. The silence was broken by a sudden sigh from Sho. Aiba turned to him, afraid to see him upset, but actually Sho was smiling.
“See?” he asked.
“What?” Aiba asked back, not understanding.
“We really get along well. If only you would have accepted to spend some time with me, we could have done this kind of stuff since ages ago,” he answered.
“You would like to do this more? I mean, chatting and stuff?” Aiba questioned, a little of incredulity in his voice.
“Well, of course I would like to do even other kind of things,” he started gaining a laughter from the other, and then said, “But even just talking with you is nice. I enjoy your presence as a whole so whatever you want to give me, I’ll take it.”
Aiba’s eyes met Sho’s ones and he felt his heart starting to beat faster. No one had ever told him something as affectionate as that and he lost all kind of faculties in just a second.
His eyes, before locked with the other’s, started to go lower and met Sho’s full lips. They were all shiny and dirty due to his chocolate ice cream.
“You know, since I met you I had an obsession,” he confessed suddenly.
“Which one?” Sho whispered.
“Your lips.”
He put down his ice cream cup and cupped the other’s face, bringing their mouths near.
They stayed still for some seconds, breathing against each other, before erasing the distance between them.
It was just a peck, nothing more nothing less. Still, that kiss made them shiver. They parted away slowly and stared in each other eyes before smiling.
“You can’t even imagine how much I wanted to do it,” Aiba mumbled.
“Same here,” the other replied chuckling.
Sho approached his lips again and they exchanged sweet and slow kisses for a while. Finally feeling the other warmth, they couldn’t be happier than that. Well, actually, there was something which was still unspoken. And Masaki wanted to let it out as soon as he could.
He parted from the other’s lips and moved slightly backwards so he could see fully Sho’s face. While looking at him, who was breathing heavily due to the numerous kisses, he couldn’t help but smile widely.
“I love you Sho,” Aiba confessed.
Sho’s eyes and mouth widened in surprise. He had never thought that the day in which Masaki would have said those words would come. His heart started to pound faster with excitement and he hugged him in one go.
“I love you too,” he said, hugging him tightly.
He kept on holding him in his arms until when he felt Aiba muffling what seemed a sob. He broke the hug and checked on Aiba, who had indeed some tears in his eyes.
“Why are you crying?”
“I don’t know, I got emotional and- I don’t know,“ he answered breathing heavily.
“Don’t be like this or I’ll end up crying too,” Sho said, his voice trembling and his eyes starting to fill with tears.
“We should go back before we become a mess,” Masaki suggested.
Sakurai nodded in response and they both stood up. They picked up their things trying to not look at each other for the time being or they would have ended up crying for real.
“It’s quite small here. I don’t even know if it can be called an apartment, basically it’s just a room,” Sho stated when they were at Aiba’s place.
“I don’t need anything more than this for now,” he said while placing the plastic bags with the, by now melted, ice cream on the kitchen’s counter.
Sho scanned the room looking firstly at the kitchen, then at the low table almost at the center of the room, and then at the folded futon near the window.
“You know, that futon seems very comfortable,” he said already smirking.
“I would have let you sleep here even without you saying anything,” Aiba told him amused.
“I just wanted to make it clear,” he informed him.
Aiba laughed and went to where the futon was and began to unfold it.
Sho grinned at him and waited by the window, staring at the dark alley lighted up only by the moonlight. It was still kind of surreal that almost three months ago he was at the end of that alley, wondering who was that stall owner who caught his attention since the first moment, and now he was his lover. He thanked the Sakurai Sho from three months back for having walked through that alley.
Suddenly he felt two arms hugging him from behind.
“What are you thinking about?” Aiba asked, moving some hair from Sho’s face so he could kiss his temple.
“Just how happy I’m that I decided to pay a visit at your soba stall on that day,” he replied looking up at him.
“I’m happy about that too.”
They shared some small and sweet kisses before Aiba spoke.
“Do you remember when I asked you to show me that ‘everyone is rushing’ sight?”
He nodded quietly.
“I don’t want you to show me that anymore,” he informed him.
“Why?” the other couldn’t help but ask.
“Because I don’t care. They can rush wherever they want, I just want to be with you in our little world,” he affirmed, leaving a kiss on Sakurai’s hair.
Sho blushed hearing that and replied only smiling and giving a peck on Masaki’s nose.
“So, where were we?” Aiba then said, taking Sakurai’s hands in his and leading toward the futon.
They laid down and covered each other with the sheets before hugging each other. Masaki started to caress gently the other’s hair and face until Sho took his fingers in his hands.
“You know, I too have an obsession since I met you.”
Aiba just knitted his eyebrows together, silently asking which was.
“Your fingers,” he confessed and kissed them one by one.
“That’s why each time I was working you were staring at them. Finally the mystery is solved,” he said, finally realizing the reason behind Sakurai’s continuous stare on his hands.
“Even the mystery of you always watching me while eating,” Sho added.
“It’s not only for your lips. You don’t realize it, but when you’re eating you tend to stuff your mouth with food and you are very cute with all your cheeks stuffed. You seem a squirrel while eating acorns,” he explained giggling.
“Should I take that as a compliment?” he questioned laughing.
“Of course! I told you that you are cute after all,” he replied while taking his cheeks and squeezing them.
Their laughter filled the room for some minutes before silence fell on it again until Aiba spoke again.
“You will come to the stall again, right?”
“What do you mean?” Sho asked perplexed.
“I mean… You’re not going to disappear, right?”
“I’m sorry for you, but you won’t get rid of me easily. You will be stuck with me for quite some time from now on,” he assured him.
“So, you won’t leave me?”
“I won’t ever do that. I promise.”
After saying that, Sho kissed Masaki, as if sealing the promise he just made, and embraced him tightly. And Masaki could only hug him back smiling happily, glad that he accepted to give Sho a chance.
The End
